Have Fun and Learn to Dance Bachata!

Bachata originates from the Dominican Republic and is a passionate dance style. It’s characterised by the sensual movements and the four beats (three steps and a tap). You’ll go from a shy beginner up to a comfortable dancer with our supportive teachers.

We teach bachata in an open class where all levels are welcome. You’ll be partnered with someone with a similar experience level so you can progress without feeling pressure. After a quick warm up you’ll learn the essential techniques like the basic steps, turns and partner connection.

We aim to give our students a solid base and then advanced techniques - it’s all well and good to want to do all the advanced techniques, but the connection to the music is important.

You’ll learn how to express yourself in your dancing and communicate that no matter who you're dancing with. It’s a partner dance after all! As you progress, you’ll learn more advanced movements and steps. We apply this same principle to our Cuban and Linear salsa classes.

Weekly Beginner-Friendly Bachata Classes in Newcastle

Everyone can learn to dance with our open-level bachata lessons. There are some close and sensual movements that come with the style, but we only ask our students to take part so long as they’re comfortable.

You don't need a partner to experience our Bachata classes; all you need to bring are comfortable shoes and we’ll match you with partners on the day.

Start Bachata Lessons and get Dancing!

Our instructors hold open level bachata lessons. After a group warmup and activities like body isolation, we may split the group depending on their levels. That way, everyone gets their needs met and dance with similar students.

We match our students as we go and constantly rotate throughout the lesson to make sure everyone gets to experience different leaders and followers. Mixing up partners who might communicate in a different way is essential to learning how to dance bachata.
