Instead of just teaching choreographies, we work to develop your musicality, and work on moves, history and different styles. This gives you a great base to continue dancing with good timing and be able to express yourself. It’s less about memorising moves and more about knowing how to dance for real.

Can You Learn Bachata Without Previous Dance Experience?

Absolutely. We have experienced and beginner students in our bachata classes. As long as you’re curious about Latin dance classes, you’ll be able to learn. Let our teachers know if you’ve had any dance experience so you’re in the right class.

How Do Bachata Classes Compare to Salsa Lessons?

A lot of our Newcastle students find bachata easier to learn than salsa, because the music is in counts of four, with each count being a step. It’s easier than the 1-2-3, 5-6-7 of salsa. The movements can be similar between the two Latin dance styles. We teach Dominican bachata in Newcastle, which involves a lot of footwork instead of sensual rolls (but we have some of those too, as body isolation is important).
